How to use Insights

1

Open Insights and set your date range

Go to Insights and use the date range picker to select the period you want to analyze. All 11 reports update simultaneously when you change the range.
2

Choose the report

Select the report that answers your question. Each report is listed below with a description of what it shows and when to use it.
3

Drill into a row

Click any row in a report to see the individual orders behind that number. The drill-down shows the customer, order number, date, and amounts for every order contributing to that total.
4

Export to CSV

Use the export button on any report to download the data as a CSV file for accounting, further analysis, or sharing with a bookkeeper.

The 11 reports

P&L (Profit & Loss)

The most important report for understanding how your business is actually performing. Shows:
Revenue looks great. Gross Profit tells you whether the business is actually making money. Always check them together.

Tax Report

Lists every order that had tax applied, showing the tax rate and amount for each. Use this when preparing sales tax filings or reconciling tax collected with your accounting system.

Discounts Report

Shows every order where a discount was applied, including the discount type (flat or percentage), the discount amount, and the resulting order total. Use this to understand how much revenue you’re leaving on the table through discounting.

Tips Report

Lists orders where tips were recorded, with the tip amount per order. Useful for tracking staff gratuities and understanding which customers or job types tend to tip.

Payment Methods

Groups completed orders by the payment method used (cash, card, ACH, Tap to Pay, etc.) and shows the total order count and revenue per method. Helps you understand your payment mix and whether you’re paying more in processing fees than expected.

ATV Trend (Average Ticket Value Over Time)

A day-by-day breakdown of your average order value. Shows:
  • Date
  • Number of orders on that day
  • Total revenue for that day
  • Average ticket value for that day
Use this to spot trends — whether your ticket values are growing over time, identify high-revenue days, or correlate with marketing campaigns.

Sales by Body Type

Groups completed orders by vehicle body type (Sedan, SUV, Truck, Van, etc.) and shows:
  • Total order count per body type
  • Total revenue per body type
  • Average ticket per body type
Useful for understanding which vehicle types generate the most revenue and whether your body type surcharges are calibrated correctly.

Order Sources

Splits orders between Online Booking (from_public = true) and Manual / In-Store entries. Shows order count and revenue per source type. Use this to measure how much of your business is coming through the booking page vs. direct contact, and whether that ratio is changing over time.

Staff Performance

Groups completed orders by the assigned staff member and shows:
  • Orders completed
  • Total revenue generated
  • Average ticket per staff member
  • An “Unassigned” row for orders without a staff assignment
This is your primary tool for measuring individual technician productivity, comparing revenue generation, and identifying training opportunities.
The Staff Performance report only reflects orders that are assigned to a specific staff member. Keep assignment discipline high — unassigned orders create a gap in performance visibility.

Materials Usage

Shows which inventory items were consumed across all orders in the period, with:
  • Total quantity used
  • Number of orders the material appeared on
  • Total COGS cost for that material
Sort by COGS cost to identify your highest-impact consumables. Use this when reviewing supplier pricing or deciding which materials to track more carefully.

Staff Shift Hours

Tracks how many hours each staff member was scheduled to work (based on shift records), with:
  • Total shifts in the period
  • Total hours worked (calculated from shift durations)
  • Formatted duration (e.g., “34h 15m”)
Use this alongside Staff Performance to understand revenue per hour worked — one of the most useful efficiency metrics for a service business.

Tips for getting the most from Insights

  • Set up materials before your first jobs — COGS data is only as complete as your materials tracking
  • Keep staff assignments consistent — Staff Performance and Shift Hours are only useful with complete assignment data
  • Review P&L monthly — monthly check-ins catch margin problems early
  • Use the date range filter to compare periods — run two separate P&L reports for consecutive months to identify trends
